Facts About Me
If you’re interested in how I got to this point in my writing career, I suggest you check out my Writing Background page. Although I spend much of my time outside of my full-time job writing, I DO have other interests! Here are some additional facts about me:
I’m originally from the Kansas City area, but I haven’t lived there for quite a while. I’ve lived in a total of five different states (in chronological order): Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Iowa, and Wisconsin.
I’ve now lived in the Madison, Wisconsin area for over 15 years. This now represents the place that I’ve lived the longest in my life.
I’ve grown up in the church and have followed Jesus as long as I can remember. I’m currently a member of a non-denominational church in Madison, called High Point Church.
In the summer of 2016, I started dating my future wife (though she asked me out first, a fact that she will never let me forget!). We met at church and were married in the summer of 2018.
After being gone for around 30 years, my parents finally moved back to the Kansas City area, settling in a small community south of Kansas City on the Kansas side.
I have one sibling, a younger sister. She is an optometrist, and she also moved back to the Kansas City area a few years ago.
I follow quite a few sports. Above all, I am a HUGE Kansas City Royals fan. I’ve been a fan since I was young, but I’m not quite old enough to remember when they won the World Series in 1985. Thankfully, I was very much alive when they won the World Series again in 2015!
As you can guess, I’m also a big Kansas City Chiefs fan, and even though it may have taken them 50 years to reach another Super Bowl (after winning Super Bowl IV in 1970), I was thrilled to watch them win Super Bowl LIV in 2020!
It’s not unusual for me to stand out in a crowd. That’s because I’m 6’6” tall!
I play a few sports from time to time, including basketball, volleyball, tennis, and golf. However, I spend more time running than any other sport. The longest run that I’ve completed is a half-marathon in both 2013 and 2015.
In early 2019, my wife and I adopted an eight-month old puppy from the local humane society. Her name is Luna (named after a character from the Harry Potter series), and she’s a border collie/hound/shepherd mix, and she’s got quite the personality!
One of my other hobbies is coin collecting. I first started collecting coins early in high school, although I don’t spend as much time or money in that hobby as I used to.
I tend to watch television and movies more than I spend reading these days. I’m especially drawn to good story-telling in any form of media, especially if it is Sci-Fi related.
